The City of Conrad continues to grow and invest in its future, with recent projects enhancing both community amenities and long-term development opportunities.
In 2025 and 2026 several key projects were successfully completed.
- The Conrad Clinic opened its new location on Hartwig Street, expanding access to local healthcare services.
- Orgin Homes completed five new single-family homes in the Catherine Farmer Development, located adjacent to the BCLUW Elementary School, helping meet local housing needs. These were made possible by the State of Iowa Workforce Credits.
- Dollar General also completed construction of its new store in the Smith Addition, a 93-acre area that supports Conrad’s continued growth.
The BCLUW School District is also moving forward with major improvements, including a new gym and expansions to both the high school and elementary school, further strengthening educational facilities for students and families in the area.
Significant infrastructure upgrades were also completed by Alliant Energy, including the installation of underground electrical lines throughout town, replacement of natural gas lines, and the addition of a new substation. These improvements enhance system reliability and support future growth.
In 2024, Conrad made significant investments in quality of life and community development. The South Main Street bike path was completed, improving safety while expanding recreational opportunities within city limits. A pickleball court was added at Reunion Park, and a joint committee with Beaman was formed to support ongoing fundraising and improvements to these recreational facilities.
To support future growth, the City of Conrad also acquired 93 acres of land east of Hartwig Street. This strategic investment ensures the community has space for continued development and avoids becoming landlocked.
Conrad remains committed to thoughtful growth, strong community partnerships, and enhancing the quality of life for residents now and in the future.
